UK: British company takes on the American Humvee – and repurposes it as an electric mini vehicle for London’s roads

If you fancy taking an off-roader through London, but you are sick of the congestion charges, this may be an answer.

For London-based car builder, Prindiville, has launched the UK’s first customised electric vehicle in the shape of a Humvee.

The company, which has licences to adapt the designs of many popular models into electric and hybrid cars, have created this Electric Hummer for daily city commuter transport – even if it’s a vehicle you might normally take off-road.

The vehicles feature a two-speed transmission, and an in-built 72V drive system powered by a lithium-iron phosphate battery pack.

However, the vehicle only gets to 60 miles on a full charge – so a spare battery in the boot might be a required extra.

Truska Angel, the CEO of Prindiville Design, said: ‘We are fully aware of our responsibility to offer motorists sustainable choices through the provision of exciting transport solutions in this evolving electric sector.
