USA: Zap Recalls Xebra Electric Vehicles for Brake Problem

ZAP, a distributor for vehicle maker QingQi Group Motorcycle Co. Ltd., is recalling all ZAP Xebra motorcycles from the 2008 model year to correct a flaw in their brake systems. The vehicles were built from from Jan. 1, through Dec. 31, 2008.

The Zap Xebra is an enclosed electric three-wheel vehicle that is generally classified as a motorcycle. The 2008 vehicles do not have a separate brake fluid reservoir for each brake circuit, which is required under federal motor vehicle rules.

In a document filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Zap said the recall affects 691 vehicles.
