USA: Temple Univ. Gets Charging Stations For an Electric Car-Sharing Fleet

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Temple University students who join Philly Car Share will have access to electric cars, now that the university has installed two charging stations on its North Broad Street campus.

They were unveiled with some fanfare today. Hootie the Owl drove up in a Chevy Volt and students danced to (wait for it!)… the “Electric Slide” — all to celebrate the arrival of the charging stations.

Temple becomes the ninth location in the city — along with Penn, Drexel, and several commercial garages — to host charging stations purchased with a state grant. Temple acting president Richard Englert says it fits with Temple’s goal of reducing its energy usage by 25 percent over two years.
