Nissan Leaf app a high-tech helper

The Leaf iPhone app allows users to turn on and off the charging system from a remote location.

As I’ve noted in previous Driving … Unplugged blog entries, the Nissan Leaf is a rolling technological wonder.
It goes without saying that the Leaf’s all-electric propulsion system is on the leading edge of automotive science, what with its lithium-ion battery pack, regenerative braking and roof-mounted solar pack.
Likewise, it’s in-dash navigation system, linked as it is with the Leaf’s charge indicator computer network, provides a taste of 21st Century on-board integration that continues to amaze me two months into my long term test of the all-electric vehicle.
But what just might be the coolest bit of techno gear – and certainly is in the eyes of my 12-year old son – is the Leaf iPhone app (also available for Android and Blackberry smartphones).
