France ups subsidies on hydrid/electric cars

Let’s hear it for France. The nation recently boosted incentives to $6,900 for the purchase of a hybrid car and $8,500 for an electric car.

That’s a quantum leap over the previous subsidies that France had offered: between $2,400 and $4,800, respectively.

Unfortunately, there are no longer any subsidies from the federal government in this country for purchasing a hybrid car. Those disappeared in 2010.

As the Obama Administration fuel efficiency standards demand cleaner and more fuel-efficient vehicles, you’d think it might make sense for the United States to rev up hybrid/electric incentives again.
