Steven Davis-Mendelow thought he might be in the market for an electric car — and after a test drive on Sunday, he is sold.

He was one of dozens of people who took an electric car for a test drive at Yonge-Dundas Square during a Plug’n Drive Ontario event designed to educate the public about the vehicles.

“I am into energy conservation and climate change and I want to go to an electric car because it is cleaner. I loved the drive; it’s great,” Davis-Merdelow said.

“I think I am in the market for one of these. The only issue is whether to go electric or a combination of electric or gas. I have to think about how to pay for it because they are more expensive than a regular car.”

The price tag for an electric car starts at about $40,000.

Christopher Mercer lives in the city and thinks an electric car would fit his lifestyle after taking a test drive.

“It felt like driving a regular car and has all the features you need. It was a smooth good drive. I think I am in the market,” Mercer said.
