USA: Electric Vehicle Drivers Have New, Free Place to Charge Up at Ala Moana Center

The following information is provided by Pang Communications:

Electric vehicle (EV) drivers now have a new place to “charge up” for free in town, as Volta Industries (Volta) and Central Pacific Bank, Cutter Mitsubishi and First Insurance power up two new EV charging stations today outside of Victoria’s Secret and Longs Drugs in the second level parking area at Ala Moana Center. The world’s largest outdoor shopping center welcomes more than 42 million shoppers a year, making it one of Hawaii’s most frequented destinations by visitors and island residents. These stations are part of the Volta Hawaii network, a community-sponsored, free-to-use EV charging network.

“Thousands of people visit Ala Moana Center every day so we’re sure this new location to charge up will be welcomed by the hundreds of EV drivers on Oahu who want to charge up while visiting the center,” said Scott Mercer, Volta Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Time and time again we’ve heard people worry about charging anxiety. Now with two more free stations at Hawaii’s most popular shopping destination, EV drivers will be able to visit their favorite stores and charge up at the same time.”

Volta designs, installs and maintains the EV charging station and provides the energy to the EV driver, all free of charge. Companies such as Central Pacific Bank, Cutter Mitsubishi and First Insurance purchase a sponsorship of the vTower, an aesthetically pleasing charging kiosk that can support a sponsor both on the front and the back. The stations are designed by Volta and assembled in Hawaii. They are able to provide approximately 15 to 20 miles worth of range per hour of charging.
