Research center asked to develop cheaper vehicle charger

NISKAYUNA — General Electric’s Global Research Center in Niskayuna has been selected by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Energy — also known as ARPA-E — to develop a cheaper natural gas vehicle charging station for homeowners.

The $2.3 million cost of the 28-month program will be shared by GE and ARPA-E, which is part of the Department of Energy.
