Renault-Nissan to bring electric car to Korea

As Renault-Nissan bids to expand beyond its traditional core markets, it has decided to invest an impressive $160million in Korea in an effort to meet growing demand for the Nissan Rogue (pictured) and to aid with the growth of Renault Samsung Motors.
Production of the Rogue will begin in 2014 in Busan, Korea – and the plant will have an annual capacity of 80,000 units. Overall it is hoped the plant can build around 180,000 vehicles for sale not just in Korea – but across 60 additional countries.
The introduction of the Nissan Rogue in Busan is just part of the picture, however, as Renault launches its RSM 2012 Revival Plan aimed at boosting both efficiency and cost competitiveness in the region – it will also involve expanding the vehicle line-up in the area with the introduction of an electric car.
