CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – Parking spaces with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations will be returning to the Chappaqua train station later this year, Town Administrator Penny Paderewski said this week.
“This past December the town applied and recently learned that it was awarded 10 charging stations for electric vehicles at our train station,” she said at Monday’s New Castle Town Board meeting.
The train station first introduced 20 EV spaces in 2001 as part of New York Power Authority’s Clean Commute program. Paderewski said the program was since discontinued and the chargers were removed shortly thereafter.
The new charging stations are part of a statewide initiative by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who agreed to award $4.4 million to 10 companies, municipalities and other entities to enable more than 325 new EV stations across New York.
