USA: [BayLEAFs] Gathering #14 and Request for Help

We are only two days from our next meeting at the Union City Library (34007 Alvarado Niles Blvd). Coffee and bagels will be available around 7:45 AM in the parking lot. Although a small venue, the library is centrally located and within range of most members on a single charge. The program is small but important and exciting and will begin at 8:45.

Our guest speaker, Karen Schkolnick from Bay Area Air Quality Management District, will be presenting an overview and update of charging infrastructure in the area. Following her presentation, she will be conducting a Town Hall style meeting to gauge interest in, and reaction to, BAAQMD’s proposed 2013 programs. This is a good chance to help shape EV infrastructure in our area. Seating is limited—come early or be prepared to stand.

Another opportunity to shape statewide infrastructure comes as a request that we received this week from Breathe California (www.lungsrus.org) in support of AB 2405 (Choose Clean Cars Act 2012). They received an inquiry from the State Senate Housing and Transportation Committee regarding the correlation of HOV Lane access incentive to the purchase of EVs. With limited data on this for EV’s (though plenty for hybrids), we decided to conduct a very brief survey of SF BayLEAFs members and LEAF owners. Please take a quick moment to fill out this Breathe California Quick Survey . Your responses are anonymous. The final committee hearing is on Tuesday morning (June 12th) so the survey will end by Noon Monday.

Looking forward to seeing many of you on Saturday.
Howard
