USA: Wireless charging about to hit the streets

Wireless charging stations for electric cars will soon become available on UK streets, according to the companies developing the technology.

Wireless chargers manufactured by Qualcomm, Addison Lee and Chargemaster will be trialled in London later this year. If successful, this technology will add greater flexibility for electric vehicle owners and car insurance policy holders when looking for options to charge their batteries in towns and cities.

The trial will involve up to 50 cars and has been structured to examine areas such as charging plate placement and logistics – factors that will play a role in the charging station’s future success with drivers.
