ITT Introduces Second-Generation Electric Vehicle Connector

ITT Interconnect Solutions has developed the second-generation J1772 electric vehicle connector. The EVC Series provides fast and reliable charging for all electric and hybrid vehicles, and is ITT ICS’ second product offering for this growth market.

ITT ICS provides the only US-certified J1772 interconnect capable of delivering a 75A charge, which results in a charging time that is 2.5 times faster than 30A offerings from other industry suppliers. The new SAE standard J1772 201001 is now available, and IEC and GB charging interfaces for Europe and Asia will be launched in the coming weeks.

The ITT ICS 2nd Generation J1772 connector has been developed for AC Level 1 and Level 2 charging systems for the electric vehicle market, EV, EVSE, and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles. The charging system is built in accordance with the SAE standard J1772 201001 (current revisions) specifications, and is approved by regional test laboratories worldwide. Consisting of the J2CE Connector and the J2IV inlet, the system is designed for a minimum of 10,000 cycles of mechanical operation and meets UL50 Type 3R/3S sealing for weather protection.
