USA:/Canada: Corvus Energy And AeroVironment Developing Protocol For Fast-Charging Lithium Batteries For GSE

RICHMOND, B.C., CANADA (March 5, 2012) – Corvus Energy and AeroVironment (NASDAQ: AVAV) are working to make Corvus’ CorPower lithium ground support equipment batteries compatible with AeroVironment’s PosiCharge industrial electric vehicle fast-charge systems.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of this year. The updated PosiCharge system is being developed to detect when Corvus batteries are connected and provide the charge profile specified by Corvus to optimize battery performance and health.

“PosiCharge is the dominant fast-charging infrastructure in U.S. airports,” said Sean Puchalski, Corvus Energy’s Vice President of Business Development. “We’re extremely excited to work with AeroVironment to make our systems compatible. This initiative significantly enhances our ability to penetrate the GSE market.”

Corvus batteries last three to five times longer than lead-acid batteries in GSE applications, require zero maintenance and have the highest energy and power density available. Corvus batteries are capable of recharging in as little as 30 minutes, but until now, Corvus has been unable to find a charging system that could enable this capability, explained Puchalski.

“This development initiative will enable both companies to leverage their technologies and expertise to make this a reality,” said Puchalski.
