USA: Sustainable Transport Seminar 2012 / 7 March 2012 / Washington D.C.

The Swedish Trade Council, the Embassy of Sweden in Washington D.C. and the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) cordially invite you to a seminar on the theme of sustainable transportation

Join us at this seminar that will exchange experiences from the United States and Sweden with the hope of creating a medium in which to foster new and creative ideas in the technology of alternative fuels and engine development – especially in key sectors such as electric vehicles and biofuels. The Seminar will serve as a launch for ACORE’s 2012 Transportation Member Initiative and is a part of the Embassy of Sweden’s public outreach program Innovation and Education.

Technology is moving at a rapid pace in the race to find and develop energy efficient fuels and advanced engines in the hope of controlling carbon dioxide emissions and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The private sector in the United States has been especially strong in areas such as electric vehicles and batteries, and we can expect to see further strong growth and innovation in the United States in many sectors.
Sweden is a leader in biofuel implementation and usage and the country’s experience demonstrates that an expanding economy does not have to correlate with increasing volumes of carbon dioxide.

The seminar will feature speakers from both the U.S. and Sweden, panel discussions and a concluding networking session.

Speakers include:

Olof Persson
CEO, Volvo Group

Eva Walder
Director-General for Trade Policy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sweden

Vice Admiral Dennis McGinn
U.S. Navy, Ret. President and CEO, ACORE

Dr. Mary Beth Stanek
Director, Environment and Energy Policy and Commercialization, General Motors Company

Angelica Hull
Managing Director, Swedish Biofuels AB
