USA: Obama says next-gen cars will save big on gas

Even if he can’t control what’s happening at the gas pump, President Obama used his weekly radio address yesterday to tell motorists that will win against high gas prices in the longer run because of his policies.

Reason: High gas mileage cars, according to the Associated Press. With cars due to get an average of 55 miles a gallon by 2025, the average vehicle will double its current miles per gallon.

“That means folks will be able to fill up every two weeks instead of every week, saving the typical family more than $8,000 at the pump over time,” he said, as reported by the Associated Press. “That’s a big deal, especially as families are yet again feeling the pinch from rising gas prices.”
