USA: Green vehicles are highlighted at Lehigh Valley Auto Show

St. Patrick’s Day may be over, but green is the color of the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Show.

Today through Sunday at Lehigh University’s Stabler Arena and Rauch Fieldhouse, you can check out all the new green vehicles, from ultra-fuel-efficient compacts to hybrids, to electric and diesel-powered cars. See the Nissan Leaf all-electric car; Hyundai’s new Veloster, a fuel-efficient three-door hatchback, and the sleek Volkswagon Jetta Sportwagon, which boasts 42 mpg running on clean diesel.

Join in a “Green Passport” scavenger hunt and track down all the green vehicles. Those who get the passport stamped at every display of fuel-efficent vehicles will be entered in a random drawing for a custom-engraved iPad2.

The 15th annual show presented by the Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Dealers Association will feature more vehicles than ever by more than a dozen manufacturers.

Enjoy an exhibit of antique luxury cars from the Concours d’Elegance. See 19 classic T-birds from 1956 to 2005 displayed by the Lehigh Valley Thunderbird Club.

New this year is children’s educational area provided by Da Vinci Science Center of Allentown. At the Car Lab, children (and their parents) can create a dream car with a computer game, and then test the vehicle in a wind tunnel and on the “road.” Kids also can design a 3-dimensional car using the wooden Automoblox system which features interchangeable interlocking parts, and then race it down a ramp.
