USA: Charlotte to debut electric charging stations

The city of Charlotte will officially debut its fleet of electric vehicles, along with charging stations throughout the community, at an event this morning in uptown.

Mayor Anthony Foxx and Michael Smith, president of Charlotte Center City Partners are among those expected to appear at today’s event, which is set for 10 a.m. in the parking deck of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center.

The city has purchased eight electric vehicles to be used by several departments including Charlotte Department of Transportation and Engineering and Property Management, according to the Power2Charlotte website. One vehicle also will be shared by city staff working at the government center.
