Next-gen VW Passat is coming in mid-2014 with Bi-TDI and Plug-in Hybrid

The German based automaker Volkswagen is planning to launch the future generation of the Passat in mid-2014 with a new Bi-TDI diesel engine to offer more than 200 HP.

Even if the car manufacturer didn’t say anything about this, the guys at are announcing that the future generation of the Volkswagen Passat will come in mid-2014. Our source is also saying that the future VW Passat will be developed on the new MQB platform and, amongst others, it will be powered by a Bi-TDI diesel engine which will generate over 200 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid version of the vehicle is also expected to make its way into the lineup.

After the new VW Passat will hit the market, the CC model will go up market and it will be placed between the Passat and the Phaeton. The future CC is also expected to offer new body versions, possible a two-door coupe. The new generation of the Volkswagen Passat might be larger than the current one, but its total sizes will keep it into its class limits. Under the hood, the future Passat will get 1.4 liter TSI, 1.8 liter TSI and 2.0 liter TSI engines, which will develop between 130 and 250 horsepower, while the diesel TDI range will get upgraded versions of the current units, along with the new bi-turbo Bi-TDI.
