The FINANCIAL — Ever heard the saying “Happy wife, happy life?” Chevrolet Volt owners, especially with two in their households, have found this to be especially true.

Take Sue Reason of Liverpool, N.Y. She and her husband John have been interested in electric vehicles for years, so when the Chevrolet Volt became available, they picked up two. According to General Motores, in addition to enjoying the car itself, charging is never an issue, as they each use the 120-volt charge cord set that comes with the Volt. But even if Sue and John didn’t plug in, they wouldn’t have to worry.

“I could understand arguments arising if someone forgot to plug in a vehicle that solely relied on electric power, but with the Volt’s gasoline range extender, that would never be an issue,” Sue Reason said.

The Volt has a total driving range of up to 379 miles, based on EPA estimates. For the first 35 miles, the Volt can drive gas and tailpipe-emissions free using a full charge of electricity stored in its 16-kWh lithium-ion battery.
