USA: Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Installed in KCMO Arts District Garage

Public demonstration of charging stations and City’s first all electric-powered passenger vehicle scheduled for Friday.

Kansas City, MO – infoZine – The City of Kansas City, Mo., as part of its KC Green initiative, will debut its two new electric vehicle charging stations during a live demonstration on Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m. The stations are located in the City’s Arts District Garage at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, 1601 Broadway St., and will each be able to charge two vehicles simultaneously.

“Promoting electric vehicles is an important part of encouraging sustainable solutions for Kansas City,” said Bruce Campbell, public parking administration manager. “This is our first municipal garage with electric vehicle charging stations. These units will help us to explore demand for plug-in vehicles, and assist in identifying future infrastructure needs.”

Staff will demonstrate the charging stations using the City’s new all electric-powered Ford Transit Connect minivan, the City’s first all electric-powered passenger vehicle since the early 1980s.

Motorists interested in using the stations are advised to enter the 17th Street entrance to the Arts District Garage for easy access. It will cost $1/hour to charge a vehicle.
