CPS Energy has installed 120 electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout San Antonio as part of a research effort designed to study the driving habits of electric-vehicle owners.
The charging station locations include Wonderland of the Americas, the University of Texas at San Antonio , the Bexar County Courthouse, St. Philip’s College, the University Health System , select H.E. Butt Grocery Co. (H-E-B) stores, Santikos Theatre locations and Port San Antonio.
“As more and more car companies introduce electric vehicles into the market, the timing for this EV charging station research project is ideal,” says Elaina Ball, CPS Energy’s vice president of technical services and energy solutions. “Having this infrastructure in place allows us to learn about the infrastructure technology, electrical system impacts, and EV drivers’ needs and behaviors.
