USA: Cherry Hill law firm leads the charge for electric cars

CHERRY HILL — Dick Johnson intends to spend more time at his lawyer’s office, even if he doesn’t need legal advice.

A charging station just went up in the Flaster /Greenberg parking lot on Chapel Avenue. It’s a courtesy for clients who drive electric cars — and an incentive for employees to buy environmentally friendly vehicles.

Johnson is director of business development for AutoPort Inc., a Delaware-based company that converts gasoline-powered vehicles to electric. Driving the company van on trips usually requires careful routing in order to recharge the vehicle every 80 miles.

“In the past, I would have to stop at RV sites at campgrounds,” he says.
