Ford plugs Energi into 2013 hybrids

Though the Ford Fusion Energi can be plugged into a standard home outlet, using a Leviton J1772 Level 2 charging station speeds up the process.

Innovation was the theme for the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show last month as 150,000 attendees from around the world visited Las Vegas to exchange information and unveil new products that featured the latest electronic and software technologies.

The automotive industry has increased its presence at CES each year recently as manufacturers have realized the importance of electric drive trains, electronic control systems and telematics to keep their mobile platforms competitive. Six of the top eight global automotive manufacturers successfully exhibited their new technologies this year at CES, enticing more automakers to schedule exhibits here in January 2013.

Ford Motor Co. CEO Alan Mulally also was active again this year at CES, where he unveiled six new electrified vehicles for the 2013 model year, including four that could be directly refueled from electric recharging stations.
