CANTON — The Canton Board of Selectmen will discuss a step into an alternative-energy future when they meet Jan. 11, and charging stations for electric cars will be on the agenda.
Canton has applied for a $32,003 Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality grant to the Connecticut Department of Transtportation to fund three charging stations, which would be matched by 20 percent of town money, or about $6,400, according to Robert Skinner, Canton chief administrative officer.
“Each station can charge two vehicles at once,” Skinner said.
Plans call for one station on Main Street, Collinsville, in front of town hall, one in the parking lot behind town hall and one at the Canton Senior/Community Center at 40 Dyer Ave.
