With the Frankfurt Motor Show coming in less than 24 hours, Audi decided it’s time to present its latest creation in terms of supercars, the R8 E-Tron prototype, which, as sadly as it sounds, might be the future of this segment, with its four electric motors.
With additional carbon fiber insertions, a revised grille and a ventilated hood, the new Audi R8 is scheduled to enter production in 2012, only to hit the dealerships all around the world at the end of the year.
The new R8 E-Tron has a 53 kWh lithium-ion battery which sends power to the four electric motors which are producing 308 horsepower and an impressive 4.500 Nm of torque, or 3.319 lb-ft, enabling the supercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
