China: Carmakers cashing in on Auto Shanghai to promote new-energy vehicles

The subject of Auto Shanghai 2011 is “Innovation for Tomorrow”. As an auto show held in the most dynamic vehicle market of the world, it naturally attracted lots of multinational companies, such as Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, General Motors, Ford, Volvo and Kia; and top brands like Poche, Ferrari, Maserati, Jaguar and Land Rover are all come to the exhibition.

Since the theme is “Innovation for Tomorrow”, multinational companies will of course show new energy technology, which is a matter of concern to the future’s sustainable development of auto industry. In this year’s Auto Shanghai, Ford’s Focus electric vehicle, C-MAX Energi plug-in hybrid vehicle and Fusion Hybrid made their Asian debuts; Honda’s new IMA hybrid system with lithium ion battery made world debut; Toyota brought new energy vehicles including FT-EV II, RAV4 electric vehicle and Prius plug-in hybrid concept; Volvo V60 plug-in hybrid vehicle and C30 electric vehicle co-interpreted “DRIVe Toward Zero” strategy; Audi exhibited A3 e-tron concept plug-in hybrid concept vehicle……

Even the superior first class designing companies came to Auto Shanghai 2011 too. Icona, a famous Italian designing company, came to China for the first time and it launched two electric vehicle types, in which Fuselage concept vehicle made its world debut in the exhibition.
