UK: Solar-powered Nissan Leaf on road

DJ Mark Goodier has become the proud owner of Britain’s first domestic solar-powered car.

His brand new, fully electric Nissan Leaf operates using energy produced by solar panels installed at his home by British Gas.

It is a win-win situation for the Smooth Radio DJ as he stands to get a tax-free payment of around £1,200 every year for renewable energy generated by the 12 panels in his home under the feed-in-tariff programme.

Under the scheme owners can not only take advantage of the electricity produced, but also have an index-linked yearly income secured for 25 years.
