USA: Hybrid electric car cleared of being cause of garage fire

BARKHAMSTED — Fire investigators for General Motors last week concluded that a fire in which a Chevrolet Volt was destroyed was not caused by the new hybrid car.

Rob Peterson, a spokesman for General Motors, said that although the cause of the fire that destroyed a garage at 202 Center Hill Road on April 14 has yet to be determined, General Motors said the Volt was not the cause.
