The top three World Car of the Year finalists were announced at the Geneva auto show, and the Nissan Leaf all-electric vehicle will take on the six-figure Audi A8 and sporting BMW 5-Series luxury sedans for the title; the winner will be announced at the New York auto show next month.

Wondering where the multi-award-winning gas-electric Chevrolet Volt is? It wasn’t on the list of eligible vehicles for the overall WCOTY award, strangely, though it did make it into the top three finalists for the World Green Car award announced at the same time. The extended-range electric Volt will be up against the BEV Nissan Leaf and the BMW 320d EfficientDynamics Edition diesel. The Volt is scheduled to arrive in Canada this summer, while Nissan says customer deliveries are to begin this fall for the Leaf.
