Cadillac plug-in hybrid in the works

General Motors has a plug-in hybrid based on the Cadillac SRX crossover in the works, according to Reuters.

The plug-in would be the first electric luxury vehicle from Cadillac since it scrapped the Converj concept, which was a Cadillac variant of the Chevrolet Volt.

The plug-in Cadillac would use electric-car technology developed for the Volt to keep costs down.

The current Cadillac SRX debuted as a concept at the 2008 Detroit auto show as a vehicle that could evolve to carry an electric powertrain and fuel cell.
