NRG Energy just announced that it plans to offer an unlimited electric car charging plan to its Texas customers. Starting next year, Houston residents will be able to sign up for the plan, which will cost $60-80 per month and allow unlimited charging at home and at charging stations throughout the city. It also includes the cost of leasing a home charging station and emergency charging for drivers who get stranded.

Today, the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources heard testimony on expanding the presence of electric cars in America. In short, the hearing gave plug-in vehicle supporters a chance to tell lawmakers what they think of this new breed of vehicles.
