Europe: BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept Set for Production

BMW has been working hard on its product development strategy and has been trying to provide an enhanced driving experience along with a reduction of emissions and fuel consumption in its cars. Running on the same line, it bought the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept to the Frankfurt Auto Show last year and now it has been reported that BMW is working on a production version of its plug-in hybrid soon to ship to the showrooms.

For a quick recap of its specs, it carries a lighter-weight, 163-hp 1.5L three-cylinder diesel engine and two electric motors that together deliver 356-horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The performance of the four-door, plug-in hybrid is not shy at all as the car can gush to a top speed limited electronically to 155mph with 0-60 mph in just 4.8 seconds, but a slight improvement in these figures can be expected come production. The impressive fuel-economy of the BMW Vision EfficientDynamics Concept is estimated at 63 mpg.
