If the electric car is to be something more than a toy for rich people or a hobby for tinkerers, it’ll have to be mass-produced, priced right and fit people’s lifestyles.
And in San Diego, it’ll be heavily subsidized.
Nissan, San Diego Gas & Electric and local politicians Thursday showed off the Leaf, a car they hope will make a dent in the effort to wean the nation from fossil fuels and cut down on greenhouse-gas emissions.
